artist statement

My work always begins with my camera.  I am intrigued by the concepts of dreams and memories.  What do we wish for and how do we hold on to people, places, and experiences that are no longer within our reach?

I use my camera to render my perspective.  I am drawn to a view of objects where a sense of time and location is removed.  Objects have a story that is communicated by evidence of wear and tear and general aging.  I use my fisheye lens to warp and distort a view of a place or landscape to render a dreamlike quality.

The manner in which I print or present a group of images further communicates the notions of dreams and memories.  My intent is to illustrate the idea that the images of our memories often grow fragmented. distorted and more often blurred over time.
